Heidi Barclay Vice President of Finance

Heidi is originally from Minnesota but has enjoyed living in South Dakota for the past few years. Prior to joining the Aberdeen Development Corporation in November of 2014, she worked at Colorado State University and the University of Minnesota. Heidi holds a BBA degree in Accounting and Management from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and an MBA from St. Thomas University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the ADC she is responsible for overseeing the financial position of the organization, including the budget process, variance reporting, and financial forecasting.

Sid Gonsor Truck Transportation

Commercial Driver’s License
Sid Gonsor, CDL Instructor, started working with The Training Place in 2003. He is certified to train in all aspects of Truck Transportation, and has been trained in all aspects of Transportation Safety. He is also qualified to teach vacuum infusion and forklift safety.


Dr. Juan Gonzalez Northern State University

Workplace Spanish
B.A., M.AA, University of Utah, Ph.D, University of Wisconsin – Madison. Juan M. Gonzalez, originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, worked for 18 years as an international public relations specialist/marketing rep for an advertising firm.Part of his responsibilities included making three-to-four-week trips throughout South America and Mexico to meet and greet radio and TV managers and owners. He has worked and lived in every major city in that area. An economic downturn in the mid-90’s found him without work and consequently he went back to school to complete a B.A. in Spanish at the University of Utah. He left Utah in 1998 to complete his Ph. D in Spanish at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, from which he graduated in 2005. Recently, he spent four years teaching Spanish at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. Juan has been teaching at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota since spring of 2009.

Todd Swenson Swenson Welding

Advanced Welding
Todd works for Swenson Welding. Before this position, he underwent two years of vocational training at Wilmar Vocational School, and has been welding in the field ever since. Todd has done a significant amount of independent welding, and has held numerous welding positions at companies such as Stockholm Refrigeration, Pipestone Dairy Equipment, and Redlinger, Inc. He received qualification and training through these in-field experiences in partnership with American Engineering of Sioux Falls. He also teaches classes at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown. These include proper welding procedures such as appropriate hand skills, techniques, settings of welding equipment, polishing and finishing the weld. Todd’s objective for teaching is to turn out quality workmanship in the welding field. He believes with the proper instruction, students will have valuable skills that allow them to compete for higher paying jobs.
